Can we scale the 1-1/4" pipe thread down to 1" flex pipe for a very shallow installation? We are slightly above sea level, so the water table is only 5 feet or so below the surface. We have an old 2" cast iron well with a 1-1/2" broken PVC liner. We would like to use a 1" poly pipe drop to connect to the well. Doable?? Thanks.

Water pump
Overall, well made and works well. Looks pretty, as advertised. My only complaint is that the vertical rod going into the top of the pump is a simple piece of steel rod so it does not match the style of the rest of the pump. It also would be nice if the bolts were painted black to match. But I can live with these flaws. For the price, it is great.

Used it as a fountain spout instead of pump
If you use it as a fountain spout, I suggest you remove the footer valve (used to keep the pump primed).

Hand pump
I love this pump. I installed it on top of my water well, which has an electric pump at the bottom, my water is only 14’ from the top of the well, after installing and priming, I have fresh water any time , without electricity . This will be a huge benefit when the power goes out

I needed a well for my livestock. This works well. 'Pun intended.' You need a well point to drive into the ground. You can only get water as deep as 25 feet. But you do not have to go that deep.

Works like a charm!
I put this on an old well that we have in our "well room" (the house has been on city water for the last 40+ years). The water depth was about 20 feet deep and I made my suction pipe about 38ft long. I used a foot valve on the end of the pipe and removed the check valve and weight in the pump. It keeps it's prime and works great! I get about 12-16oz per pump. It pumps a little hard but I would say most of that is attributed to my water depth. The internal check valve took a good bit of suction to overcome. I'm not sure I would be able to overcome it and reach my depth.I was nervous because at a 20ft depth, and the nozzle about 3ft above the ground, it has to lift 23ft. The pump did it well though! As expected there is a little rust in the first couple pumps.
