The capacity is listed at 88~11000 lbs. If I pick up a ladle that weighs 1,000 lbs then tare this scale, then dump 1,000 lbs of metal into the ladle (so 2,000 lbs total, but reading 1,000 lbs) will the scale read down to zero as I empty the ladle (i.e. 1,000 total weight), or will it stop reading accurately below 88 lbs when tared (i.e. below 1,088 total lbs)?

This is a nice scale. You will have to have many parts to accomadate any hoisting mechanizm you have. So far it has proven to be accurate within 2 10ths of a pound

Accurate and a Great Value
Quite impressed with this for the price. I tested the accuracy with a 3,260 pound block of steel against a certified scale and the measurement was within 20 pounds. The certified scale only had 20 pound increments. Also, the back cover that other reviews have complained about is all aluminum on mine.
